Trevor Lacey- Kentucky Lean?
This weekend SummerHoopScoop was at the Derby Festival in Louisville, Kentucky and the stars were on display. High-major prospects Deuce Bello, Chane Behanan, Wayne Blackshear, LaQuinton Ross, Quinn Cook, and Cody Zeller were all playing. However, all the talk before and after the festivities centered on unsigned 2011 SG Trevor Lacey.
Lacey has recently narrowed his list down to Alabama, Kentucky, and Kansas. He is expected to take a visit to Kansas in the coming days, but the buzz flying all weekend was that Lacey is leaning towards Kentucky. What follows is a sampling of impressions and predictions I got from sources around the gym:
Source: "He is leaning a little towards Kentucky right now. With those kids gone, it just makes a bit of a difference."
2011 Commit and Derby attendee: "yah I'd say trev is probably leaning towards Kentucky right now. With those kids gone, it just makes a bit of a difference."
Source on KU: "I think we have some ground to make up right now but Coach Self still gets him on campus and anything can happen."
Source on UK: "I think the staff feel they are in a good position"
Source: "If I was a betting man, I'd bet on Trev to Kentucky and not long from now."
While Lacey did not have an exceptional outing with 5 pts, 4 assists on 2-8 shooting, he definitely "felt the love" from the Kentucky faithful who made it out to the event. He often got more attention from the crowd than local Louisville commits and took notice. After the event he stated, "yah, I definitely heard the Kentucky fans gettin rowdy for me during the game. It was a really good feeling."
After this weekend it seems pretty clear that Kentucky is the team to beat, but there is a ways to go yet....
